TADCASTER Albion reacquainted with Jonathan Greening in pre-season after Scarborough Athletic visited the Young Guns Arena for the Brewers' third friendly.

Mick O'Connell's side continued their pre-season preparations by tackling Vanarama National League North outfit Scarborough, who boast the likes of ex-York City men Ryan Whitley and Michael Duckworth in their ranks.

It was also a chance to for Tadcaster to take on a former player of theirs in the form of Greening, who made 33 appearances for the Brewers having initially began his career with York.

Tadcaster were looking to build on a thumping 4-0 victory over Selby Town and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Brighouse Town in pre-season.

The difference in divisions between the two sides meant that it was going to be a tough evening, which was made all the harder as Scarborough took the lead within the first minute.

A strike from an unnamed Scarborough trialist fell to Luca Colville in the area, with the talented winger tucking the ball past the Tadcaster shot-stopper.

The Taddy goalkeeper then had to make a number of good saves in the first 15 minutes of the half, keeping efforts from Colville and Frank Mulhern at bay.

With 19 minutes played, the Brewers pulled level through ex-York youngster Kieran Greenway, who produced a low, driven strike into Whitley's bottom right corner, seeing the two sides at one a piece.

But the level scoring would only last ten minutes, with a Seadogs trialist powering home from a corner to put the visitors back in front.

Both goalkeepers were forced into impressive saves to try and keep the scoreline as it is, rounding off a battling first-half for Tadcaster.

However, the second-half would see Scarborough begin as they had within the first, as a superb, dipping free-kick from Lewis Maloney beat the Brewers shot-stopper to double the advantage of the visitors.

With 62 minutes played, Tadcaster were left relieved as Scarborough rattled the visitors post, with the Seadogs eagerly pushing for a fourth goal.

A contested second-half meant that the match resulted in a 3-1 defeat for Tadcaster, who can be pleased with their performance, after another good workout for the Brewers against higher-division opposition.

The preparations for the coming season continues on Friday evening (7.45pm), when Tadcaster welcome Northern Premier League newcomers Emley to the Young Guns Arena, having lifted the Northern Counties Eastern League premier division title last campaign.
