ADAM HINSHELWOOD is backing England to win Euro 2024 after the Three Lions reached the final on Wednesday.

England will take on Spain in the Euro 2024 final at the Olympiastadion Berlin on Sunday (8pm), with Gareth Southgate's side reaching the final for a second consecutive tournament.

Hinshelwood had previously backed England to reach this stage, and remains confident that the Three Lions can 'bring it home' in the final match of the competition.

“I said to someone before the semi-final that if we conceded first, then we’d have a better chance of winning," Hinshelwood told the Press.

"I’m glad that we did concede first to be honest, I just think that we almost have to go behind in games to open up a little bit and go at teams.

"I’m hoping that we don’t score too early against Spain to be honest, because they’re not the type of team that you want to park the bus against for too long.

"We’ve got to believe, some of those knockout games and in the group stage as well, you wouldn’t have anticipated that we’d even get near to the final. To be there is an unbelievable achievement.

"My kids have had it lucky, being able to watch England play.

"All of the times of heartbreak and penalty shootouts that we went through as kids, the kids of today have now seen us play in two Euro’s finals. It’s unreal, I’m just hoping that they can get us over the line now on Sunday.

“I think they’ve gone from strength to strength, especially in the first-half there was some really good creative play.

"He [Southgate] seems to have found a system that works and that happens sometimes, we can play through pre-season all of the way and then stumble across a different formation that seems to suit us.

"I’m glad we’ve done that, and have full faith that we will get the job done this time."

Hinshelwood hasn't decided his plans for the final yet, admitting that it depends on whether his family will remain in York until Sunday, but is looking forward to weekend of football.

“I honestly don’t know yet! The family are up, so it depends on if they are going to shoot back to watch it with all of the family, I’ve not decided yet.

"I’ll be guided on what they do, or if it’s to a nice little pub on the river in York somewhere for me and Gaz [Gary Elphick, assistant manager] and Cam [Cameron Morrison, first-team coach] or whether if the family are going to stay up and we’ll watch it together.

"I’m a bit undecided at the moment.

"There’s two games to look forward to, York versus Sheffield United and then England versus Spain the following day, it’s an unbelievable weekend!"
