MAZ KOUHYAR had the perfect start to life on loan at Kidderminster Harriers.
The York City winger is spending the season on loan to Kidderminster in the Vanarama National League North, aiding the Harriers after their relegation from the Vanarama National League last campaign.
Kouhyar started the contest in the North East as Phil Brown’s side visited Darlington in their season-opener, in a team that also consisted of former York attacker Amari Morgan-Smith.
The winger bagged an early assist for Morgan-Smith, with Kidderminster taking the lead in the 21st minute.
A close-knit encounter saw Kouhyar race onto a through ball and one-on-one with another ex-City teammate for the Afghan winger, Pete Jameson, with a low left-footed strike nestling into the far corner.
Will Hatfield scored a late goal to halve the deficit, with Kidderminster heading home as 2-1 victors.
Elsewhere, Tyler Cordner had a disappointing start to his second spell with Ebbsfleet United.
Cordner started for Ebbsfleet’s trip to Gateshead, but struggled to perform as the Heed headed into the half-time break with a 3-0 lead, thanks to goals from Callum Whelan, Owen Oseni and Greg Olley.
The centre-halve would last until the 60th minute mark, before being substituted off for Giles Phillips, with United down by five goals with an hour played.
Another two goals from Olley, completing a hat-trick, meant that Gateshead were 5-0 up heading into stoppage-time, before Dominic Poleon secured a late consolation in a 5-1 hammering.
Spennymoor Town and Olly Dyson hosted National League North promotion candidates Chester, and pulled off a shock 3-0 win as a third York loanee started in the North East.
Dyson started the contest as Isaac Fletcher opened the scoring with six minutes played.
Fletcher added his second with 54 minutes gone, before Matty Dolan powered home an incredible free-kick from 30-yards out.
Dyson featured for the entirety of the 90 minutes, with the Moors in fourth position after the opening day.
