Selby Town celebrated their first win of the season on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 home success against Louth Town.

Supporters witnessed easily the best performance so far this season for Selby, who enjoyed their first competitive victory since April 20.

Harry Clapham, with his first of the season, nodded Town in front just before the break and further headed goals from Harrison Rowley and Connor Ryan sealed the win.

In team news, Liam Wilson replaced the unavailable George Bason in goal.

Harrison Rowley and Charlie Petch came into the starting line-up replacing Jason St. Juste and Ned Dry.

Although Caden Mcgrath cleared the ball of the Robins' goal in the first minute, the home side dominated play.

Rowley beat visiting keeper Declyn Dennis to a through ball but the ball was cleared by a defender.

The impressive Petch then headed into the arms of the goalkeeper. and soon after Clapham tried lobbing Dennis, but the shot-stopper palmed the ball away.

At the other end Bailey Wright tested Wilson from 25 yards and Adam Milson shot well wide.

The play switched again to the visitors' penalty area with Liam Love shooting wide and Rowley being thwarted by the legs of Dennis.

Seven minutes from the break, Selby finally got their first goal of the season in open play when Clapham stooped to nod a cross from Rowley into the net.

Despite Louth looking more determined at the start of the second-half, Town soon started to put the pressure on.

Rowley did well on the left but his cross could not be met by a Selby player.

However on 57 minutes, the Robins extended their lead with a superb goal.

Clapham raced down the right wing with the ball and his pinpoint cross was headed home by Rowley.

Minutes later Clapham and Dan Davison both had efforts cleared off the line and Clapham turn and shot saw his effort hit the underside of the bar before bouncing away.

Clapham was having a field day down the right and another great cross was headed away with Rowley waiting to pounce.

The game was sealed on 74 minutes when a corner saw Ryan, some 12 yards from goal, loop his header over Dennis for his first Selby goal.

Near the end of the match Jack Bull saw a couple of headed efforts drift wide of the goal.

Selby are next in action this coming Saturday when they encounter Maltby Main. Although the game should be at Maltby, their pitch is unavailable and therefore it will be played at Richard Street with Town being classed as the away team.

Supporters of the Robins cannot use season tickets for the game (3pm).
