Pike Hills Golf Course welcomed just short of 200 golfers for the 17th occasion that the York City Past Players Charity Golf Day has been held at the club.

Former York City players, as well as keen golfers of varying ability, took on the 18-hole course in a stableford competition to find out who would be the recipients of the winning trophy for 2024.

It was the final fourball out “York City FC 2024/25” who burnt up the course coming into the clubhouse with a score of 92 points.

Having first endured a morning training session, Rory Watson, Ollie Pearce, Billy Chadwick and Alex Hunt proved they are not only talented footballers but also very competent golfers.

Other former City men playing on the day included, Rodney Rowe, Pat Lally, Nigel Pepper, Tony Barratt, Alan Hay, Neil Woods, David Spofforth, Paul Johnson, Nigel Costello, John Reynolds, Ian Nendick, Steve, David and Mark Fenton (Billy’s sons), Jimmy Seal, Andy McMillan, Tommy Stanley, Daniel Parslow, Chris Potter, Ian Blackstone, Tony Canham, former manager Gary Mills and Dick Hewitt’s three sons who all played in memory of their father.

The day raised £5000 to be split equally between the York City Supporters’ Trust and York Hospital Radio.
