ADAM HINSHELWOOD saw plenty to be pleased about as his York City side eased to a 2-0 victory over Tamworth on Saturday.

The York manager was impressed by the performance of his side and in particular how they have adapted to his style of play, seeing lots of positives from City.

Hinshelwood felt that the game could have gone either way after half-time after some strong defending from the visiting Tamworth, but was pleased with the belief kept by his side.

The weekend only got better for the City boss too, after his son, Jack, visited after starting in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 3-0 victory over Everton to start the season.

Jack started the match, following in his father’s footsteps as his Premier League side began their campaign in perfect fashion.

“We did [deserve to win], it could have quite easily have gone the other way,” Hinshelwood admitted.

“They defended really well in the first-half, some of the blocks that they got in I don’t think that their defenders knew much about them.

“When the game is like that, it only takes a bad decision from a player or an official or for someone to hit a worldy, you can go behind and the game can be completely different.

“We stuck to our beliefs and I’m just glad that we got all three points for the level of performance.

“Our style, how we want to play, how we worked in possession and I thought that we defended our box really well.

“If anything, the last ten minutes, we stopped playing a little bit and we’ve got to stick with how we play, keep them disciplined to our structure to how we want to play.

“Lots of positives, lots for us to still work on but you can see our style start to be implemented.

“Going into yesterday I spent a bit of time with the family, my son made his way over after Everton and stayed with us for the night.

“We spent the day in York yesterday and it was nice, we saw smiles and a bit of a feelgood factor around the place.

“We even got a free bit of cake, because one of the girls was a bit of a York fan!

“It’s really nice, nice spirits at the minute and we want to stay in that vein.

“We know that it’s not always going to be like this so we need to enjoy it whilst it is like this, keep the spirits for as long as possible.”

Ollie Pearce had opened the scoring after falling under the challenge of Haydn Hollis, before stepping up for the spot kick and remaining composed from 12-yards out to put York ahead.

Billy Chadwick had doubled the lead just two minutes later, when latching onto Ricky Aguiar’s through ball and dinking a delicate effort over Jasbir Singh.

But one moment that stuck out to Hinshelwood was when defender Joe Felix produced an incredible challenge in the 58th minute to win a goal kick, before turning to the supporters and displaying his passion with a fist bump.

Hinshelwood enthused to the Press: “I absolutely loved it, I loved the fans getting involved and Joe almost celebrating winning a goal kick.

“What I liked about that as well is how the players came over and gave him a high five, that togetherness of the players all together and the togetherness of all of the fans together.

“We want that here at home, we want to make this a real tough place to come and that’s what we want to generate.

“We felt a little bit of what it can be like to play here, it’s quite a hostile place when you’re a home player and it’s not going too well.

“We want to kind of turn that and flip it on its head this year, make the opposition feel that kind of way.”
