YORK City defender Levi Andoh has joined Darlington on an initial one-month loan.

Andoh makes the move to the North-East based Vanarama National League North side as previously hinted at by manager Adam Hinshelwood, linking up with former York boss Steve Watson.

The Dutchman has spent over a year on the sidelines from competitive football after suffering a fractured back in August 2023's 1-1 draw with Aldershot Town.

Andoh had initially joined City in the Summer of 2023 after a spell with Hereford, and started in all four of the Minstermen's opening fixtures of the Vanarama National League season, featuring in four different positions.

He made his footballing comeback in the 2-0 defeat to Garforth Town earlier this month, managing 30 minutes of action before being tactically substituted by Hinshelwood.

Now back ready for first-team football, Andoh will spend the next month with Darlington.

Darlington also possess the likes of Scott Barrow, Cedric Main, Pete Jameson, Kallum Griffiths, Jonny Haase and Alex Payne, who all previously represented the Minstermen.

Hinshelwood spoke on Andoh's recovery, as well as Callum Harriott's, previously telling the Press: “As soon as you see the amount they do on the grass and in training, they want to be involved and you want to involve them, but we’ve definitely got to take our time with them two.

“It might even be a case of when the season has started, we might try and get some games arranged, but as soon as they get some match fitness then we will potentially look at giving them minutes elsewhere if needed.

“More so probably for Levi than Callum, but it’s definitely something to consider over the next couple of weeks.

“We’ve done so much football lately and we don’t want to rush them back, it’s been good to see them in the group but now it’s a case of taking the right protocols and making sure that they are fully fit, and ready for action.

“I know that Levi in particular, since I’ve come, I haven’t really seen him sprint let alone touch a ball.

“We’ve really got to manage that one. I think he’s had a bit of a hit where he has been training a bit more, but more regularly he is picking up other little niggles like his hip flexor and things like that.

“It’s a case of managing that load with the data we get through day to day, it really helps with that."

The 24-year-old can make his competitive debut for Darlington on Tuesday, August 20 (7.45pm) when travelling to take on Buxton in the National League North.

Darlington will be on the hunt for a first win of the season, having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kidderminster Harriers on the opening day, before a 2-2 draw with Oxford City.
