ADAM HINSHELWOOD believes that his York City side will have to be at their best to break down a resilient Sutton United side.

The York boss envisages a difficult clash when City make the trip down to Sutton United this afternoon (3pm) for their fourth match of their Vanarama National League campaign.

Sutton have followed the Minstermen’s trend of securing seven points from nine so far, including a hugely-impressive 5-0 triumph over Altrincham, and have started the season well since their relegation from Sky Bet League Two.

Hinshelwood isn’t anticipating either side changing too much about how they’ve set up at the start of the season, and looks forward to a match with two contrasting styles.

“We’ve got to be at our best to break them down as they don’t give a lot away. I don’t envisage that they are going to change much for us, and I don’t envisage that we will change much for them,” Hinshelwood explained.

“They’re quite direct in how they play, in a 4-4-2, they’re quite structured when behind the ball.

“They are both quite contrasting styles, and we’ll be doing all we can to put another good performance together.

“That’s all that we can take care of ultimately, putting together a good performance. We know that we’ve worked on our game and that it will be a good challenge for a lot of teams this year.

“We’ve got to look to keep a bit of consistency to our play.”

Sutton are currently managed by former Millwall boss and promotion winner Steve Morrison, who Hinshelwood has previously had interactions with further down in non-league.

The boss stated: “He’s done a really good job, has Steve.

“I’ve come in contact a few times with him in the Southern non-league circuit. He’s got great experience and has managed in the Championship before. These are the challenges that as a manager are going to be a tough ask.

“What a job he has done. They’ve got off to a good start and have a similar batch of players as we have.

“They’ve had a few incomings and a few outgoings, and they seemed to have gelled together nicely.”
