YORK City face no fresh injury concerns despite playing two matches in three days last weekend.

Adam Hinshelwood has confirmed that his York side have come through the Bank Holiday weekend scathe-free, despite playing both Sutton United and Boston United in the space of three days.

The City boss has allowed his players some time to mentally recover from a ‘hectic’ weekend after making five changes in each fixture, with only four players managing 90 minutes in both games.

The rotation of goalkeepers between Rory Watson and Harrison Male has also caused Hinshelwood a welcome selection headache, as well as the impact of Lenell John-Lewis from the bench against Sutton.

“Everyone’s good, everyone has come through well,” Hinshelwood confirmed.

“Obviously that’s why we needed to make the changes that we did, there are no fresh injury concerns which is a bonus at this stage of the season.

“I’m not making any excuses but it was a long journey back, some of the roads were shut on the way back from Sutton, but we won’t make any excuses on that.

“I think that mentally it can be straining, we got the players back in on the next day, so we had a long journey back on the Saturday, did training on the Sunday and then a game Monday.

“It was a hectic weekend, but I was asked this question before the games and I said that there was nothing to worry about and we got on with it.

“Now after it, it’s the same, we won’t use it as an excuse.

“It’s been nice to freshen up the players, mentally more than anything, but we’ve analysed and done a lot of work.

“We’ll do a bit more work tomorrow [Friday] to prepare for the game and be ready to go down in Dagenham.”

Hinshelwood is also welcoming a selection headache in the goalkeeping slot, as well as John-Lewis, who is currently City’s leading scorer early in the season.

Hinshelwood continued: “With the goalkeepers, we’ve got two excellent goalkeepers, three with George [Sykes-Kenworthy] as well.

“Harrison and Rory have really done well for us since we came in, it’s one where I said to them at the start of the season that we were going to look to rotate the two of them.

“There will be certain games where we will feel that Rory would be better suited, and certain games where Harrison would be better suited.

“We’re delighted with the choice team selection that we have got throughout the side, in particular in goal as well.

“I’m really, really pleased with what we have got in the attacking options.

“It’s a really exciting forward line that we have got, and I know that when they start hitting their potential and their form, then they can really be a handful at this level.

“He will want to start more games will Len, because I know what he’s like.

“He will want to be out there performing but he has been doing such a good job for the team when coming off of the bench, and he adds a different dimension to games.

“Whether if it is the 60 or 75 that he came on against Sutton, you know that he is going to leave everything out there and be a real handful for the opposition.

“I think it’s an option for us and he will be pushing for a starting place, he’s our top scorer and has got goals coming off of the bench so it is a position that has served him well.”
