THREE former York City loanees were in permanent moves on the Premier League and EFL Deadline Day.

Whilst the Premier League and EFL's transfer deadline day came to an end last night, York can still conduct business with the Vanarama National League holding different rulings to those in higher divisions.

Two ex-City loanees, one of which that played for the club as recently as last season, have made moves, one of which includes a switch into Northern Ireland.

Shaq Forde, 20, has joined Sky Bet League One outfit Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee from Watford.

The striker has penned a three-year deal, with an option of a further year, at the Gas and has become Matt Taylor's 16th new addition of the Summer window.

Forde will be aware of the strength of League One after a loan spell at Leyton Orient last campaign, having accumulated nine goals in 40 appearances for the O's.

The season prior, Forde had initially joined City under the tutelage of David Webb, becoming the club's youngest-ever player to score a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory over Maidstone United.

He would go on to bag nine goals in 20 appearances and became a crowd favourite in North Yorkshire, ending his loan stay with a vital strike on the final day against Notts County, helping confirm the Minstermen's survival in the fifth tier.

Speaking on his move to Bristol Rovers, Forde told club media: "I'm excited to join Bristol Rovers.

"It's been a long day with a lot to do, but I'm really happy to finally get the deal done and be a Bristol Rovers player.

"Making a move on transfer deadline day is an exciting, new experience for me and I'm glad we got this one over the line so I could join Rovers.

"The club has shown me just how much they value me and want me here too.

"I can't wait to meet the boys and get started now."

Elsewhere, Danny Amos has made the switch into Northern Ireland with Glentoran.

The left-back spent the remaining three months of the 2023/24 National League season with York, managing 14 appearances under both Neal Ardley and Adam Hinshelwood.

A product of the Doncaster Rovers academy, Amos represented Buxton, Hartlepool United, Port Vale and Grimsby Town in his career, earning promotion back into the EFL with the Mariners through the play-offs.

Amos was included once in the National League Team of the Week for a performance against Woking, and helped City to another final day safety confirmation after a 1-0 defeat to Solihull Moors.

He was released following his loan with York and his contract with Grimsby and featured in a Free Agents XI in front of scouts, before finding a club in Northern Ireland.

Finally, released York playmaker Scott Burgess is re-uniting with John Askey at Truro City.

Burgess was let go by City upon the expiry of his contract after accumulating 45 total appearances in two years for the Minstermen.

The midfielder initially signed in the 2018/19 Vanarama National League North season, making 16 appearances before earning a move into the EFL with Port Vale.

After three seasons with the Valiants, Burgess would sign for Grimsby, where he played alongside Amos in their promotion season.

Burgess permanently joined from Grimsby after York's promotion back into the National League under Askey, but struggled with injuries during his tenure in North Yorkshire.

The 27-year-old ended the 2023/24 season as City's leading assister with seven after finding form under Ardley, but was not offered a new deal by Hinshelwood.

Burgess has now re-united with Askey in the Vanarama National League South at Truro.
