YORK City have completed the signing of young trialist Mo Fadera from neighbouring club Garforth Town.
Garforth manager Paul Marshall confirmed that Fadera had been offered a contract by York yesterday evening, having initially caught the attention of Adam Hinshelwood when featuring in a pre-season friendly for the Miners against City in July.
Fadera, 17, has hugely impressed Hinshelwood, who has confirmed that the winger will be involved for the club and could be around the first-team plans.
“Mo has trained with us for a couple of weeks now, he came on and did excellent against us in the pre-season game and is a local lad from York,” Hinshelwood stated.
“He’s done really well, he’s one that we’re hopeful to get done.
“He’s probably one for the future, but I can see him having a good impact in the National League this year, he’s done that well in training.
“He’s an exciting player, works well off of both feet and has electric pace.
“He’s one that we’ve really got high hopes for, he’ll come into the squad, is a great lad and has come from the city as well.
“Whether if it is straight away or we see the best of him after the New Year when he has settled a little bit, he has got all of the attributes to be a great, great player.”
Fellow York youngsters Bill Marshall and Leon Gibson-Booth have also been tipped for a future with City by Hinshelwood, having both joined Ossett United on short-term loans to gain first-team minutes.
Fadera could soon follow in the footsteps of the York academy graduates, depending on how injuries affect Hinshelwood’s squad.
“We’ll have a look at where the squad is, but we’re only a couple of injuries away from having to call some of our players back.
“It’s a really tight-knit group that we’re working with, Bill and Leon have gone out and the report back is that they have done excellent when getting men’s football under their belt.
“When we train, we have 20, 21 players that are fit, apart from Crookesy [Adam Crookes] or Alex Hernandez at the minute.
“It only takes a couple of injuries for us to need these players in and around the building, so it’s good to have Mo and the lads in training with us.”
