ADAM HINSHELWOOD is 'under no illusions' of the threat that Wealdstone poses to York City, despite their league position.

Wealdstone have started their season with just one win from their opening six matches, a 1-0 triumph over AFC Fylde, and find themselves in 20th position, one place clear of the relegation zone in the Vanarama National League.

Despite their position and form, Hinshelwood believes that Wealdstone have been unlucky so far, having lost out by just one goal in all of their defeats so far.

“I think they will be bitterly disappointed with the points tally that they have picked up, because all of their games that I have watched back have been tight affairs," Hinshelwood explained.

"They could have quite easily have been on the other side of the score line, but that’s the National League, that’s how tight it is.

"It’s the same for us, some of our results could have easily have gone the other way.

"We’ve needed a bit of luck here and there and people chipping in at the right time, that’s the same with Wealdstone.

"They lost to Sutton by the odd goal, they lost to Dagenham away on the odd goal, they are really tight games that they are in and they’ll want to turn their luck around and starting picking up some wins, because they’re not far from doing that.

“All the games really have been by the odd goal.

"They have all been tight affairs, I don’t envisage this Saturday from being any different.

“They will be disappointed with their points tally for how well they have played, a lot of their games have been tight affairs.

"I know that the Sutton one was by the odd goal, the Dagenham one was by an odd goal, two teams that we have faced already and two real tough games for us.

"It’s going to be a tough game, I’m under no illusions about that, we found it against Boston and their league position wasn’t the best when they came here.

"It was a tough game, there is no easy game at this level and I think that the players know that now. If they don’t then we’ll certainly tell them that because any team on their day can beat each other.

"We’ve got to go with a lot of confidence because we are in a good place, but at the same time we need to have big respect for Matt [Taylor, Wealdstone manager] and his team."

Wealdstone are also one of the few part-time teams occupying the National League, which is often seen as a disadvantage compared to the full-time outfits.

Hinshelwood has experience of working in a part-time outfit at Worthing, but admitted that when there is a week between matches, there isn't too much of a difference.

The boss told the Press: “The Saturday to Saturday is probably not as bad.

"Monday is a day for recovery, so you don’t do a great deal, and then we’d have a big session on Tuesday.

"Normally most teams would have the Wednesday off, then you’re training hard on a Thursday.

"You have that extra day to prepare, on a Friday, but from a Saturday through to Saturday, I didn’t notice much difference.

"It was more a case of the Saturday, Tuesday to Saturday to prepare for the Tuesday game.

"When you’re part-time you prepare for Tuesday and see the lads turning up for the game, but you don’t really have that time to prepare.

"Saturday to Saturday is not a great deal of difference, you do have a bit more time to prepare for a game with the finer details on a Friday, but Friday’s are generally a light session because you want the boys to be fresh.

"There’s a bit of a difference, but more when there is a midweek game."
