ADAM HINSHELWOOD will lock horns against Braintree Town tonight as York City look for a fifth win in eight matches.
Braintree will visit the LNER Community Stadium for their first-ever time on Tuesday evening (7.45pm), with the Vanarama National League newcomers unbeaten in their last five, keeping three straight clean sheets.
In their last three, the Iron have overseen a 0-0 draw in each match, something that does not surprise Hinshelwood when facing Braintree boss Angelo Harrop.
Hinshelwood and Braintree share recent history after the current York boss faced the Iron whilst in charge of Worthing, with Harrop coming out on top twice last season.
The City manager is expecting a difficult match against their visitors from Essex, and is hoping that his players will remain focused to the task at hand.
Hinshelwood explained: “They are the same as they were last season. I came up against them a few times and it was a tough game.
“They are really sound defensively. We’re going to have to be at our best to try and break them down.
“That’s the challenge. I know some of the grounds that they have played at in recent years so to come and play at this place, I’m sure that’s what they worked so hard for last year.
“They will be up for the occasion, definitely, so we’ve just got to focus on ourselves and make sure that we are fully focused on the job at hand.
“We’ve set a high level, performance-wise, and we can’t afford to let that drop in any way.”
Hinshelwood spoke on his relationship with Harrop, as well as the recruitment which the Braintree boss has conducted after their promotion from the Vanarama National League South.
The Iron boss brought in 17 new signings for their step up, with Braintree currently lingering in 18th position.
Hinshelwood detailed: “We’ve come across each other a bit.
“Personnel-wise, he will know a few of our players as well, but it’s a relatively new team for him.
“He’s made some good additions as well and has a bit of experience in there with some youthful legs as well.
“His recruitment is very good. It’ll be a bit different with personnel but he’ll definitely be coming full of confidence to get the win.”
The York gaffer is also looking forward to a return to home soil, telling The Press: “It feels like a long time coming!
“It makes it feel even longer that the last time we were here, we were so disappointed.
“We’re desperate to try and put that right.”
