THE Hinshelwood family are continuing to be represented in the world of football, with York City manager Adam Hinshelwood sharing the news that his youngest son has recently signed for Leeds United.

Hinshelwood followed in the footsteps of his father, Paul, formerly of Crystal Palace, as well as his grandfather, Wally, an ex-Chelsea winger, in working his way into professional football and carving out a career in the sport.

Now manager of York, Hinshelwood has overseen the development of his eldest son, Jack, as he breaks into the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, often featuring in the first-team and representing England at youth level.

There now looks to be another member of the Hinshelwood family set to make a name for themselves in the footballing world, with the City manager confirming that his youngest son has recently joined Sky Bet Championship side Leeds’ academy.

Hinshelwood laughed about the connection between football and his family, and spoke on how it affects his life away from York.

“Away from here, all I’m doing is watching football,” Hinshelwood gleamed.

“I’ll take my youngest as well, he’s just signed to the Leeds academy as well so I’m over there three times a week as well.

“It’s just in the family and in the house really, you’ve got to like football unfortunately.”

When he can, Hinshelwood has been spending his spare time taking his youngest son to Leeds to link up with their academy, watching the development in one of the most prestigious academies in the country.

Hinshelwood has been taking this opportunity to learn from the coaching methods within Leeds’ youth teams, and hopes to carry over some of his newfound knowledge to the York first-team.

“It’s an opportunity to learn, by no stretch of the imagination do I think that I am the finished article.

“I’m very keen to learn, and there will definitely be stuff that I can learn from under-10’s and under-11’s sessions.

“To go and be a part of that is good, I can see what we can take and bring back and put into York.

“I constantly want to learn and improve, and I take a lot from each session that I watch.”
