YORK Valkyrie’s Tamzin Renouf will be available to play in next month’s Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final after her sin bin in Sunday’s nail-biting semi-final win at Leeds Rhinos.

Despite fears that the England centre-turned-half-back would be suspended, the RFL’s Match Review Panel have ruled that her yellow card was sufficient punishment, much to the relief of boss Lindsay Anfield.

Renouf was sent from the field by referee Aaryn Belafonte for a late hit off-the-ball during the closing stages of their 12-10 victory at Headingley.

Whilst Woman of Steel nominee Lucy Murray did score into the right corner during the time the Valkyrie star was off the pitch, Keara Bennett could crucially not convert from the touchline as York held on to book their place in the trophy-crowning match at treble-chasers St Helens on October 6 (4:30pm).

“It was just a late challenge,” Anfield explained of the incident after the final hooter. “When I saw it on the screen, she’s just released the ball as Tamzin’s come in and hit her.

“It was very similar to the Liv Wood one that wasn’t picked up in [York’s 18-10 home defeat to Wigan Warriors in July] but the Match Review Panel looked at it and then she missed the St Helens game.

“When I saw Tamzin had done that, I was kind of hoping that it would get penalised or get a yellow card because then hopefully the Match Review Panel would look at it and say she’s got a punishment for that incident and hopefully she’d be able to play in the Grand Final.”
