HAXBY Town remain at the top of the Timclad York Sunday Morning League after maintain their perfect start to the season.

An early top of the table clash between Haxby and Thorpe United took place on Sunday, with the visitors coming away with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Robbie Macauley was the only scorer on the afternoon, with Haxby accumulating 12 points from a possible 12 so far this campaign.

Wiggington Grasshoppers are hot on the tails of the top two, only in third by goal difference, after another win at the weekend.

An impressive 9-3 victory, having held a 5-1 lead at half-time, saw the Grasshoppers overcome bottom of the table Malt Shovel at the Wiggington Sports and Playing fields.

Hat-tricks for both Jack Bell and Ellis Stephenson contributed to the heavy scoreline, as Jamie Wilstrop, Ellis Cattaneo and Joe Milner took Wiggington Grasshoppers’ tally to nine.

Heworth Inn continued their steady start to the season with a comfortable 2-0 triumph The Nags Head Heworth, who have struggled in the early stages of the season after just one win from their opening four matches.

The former are now in fourth position after three matches, whilst the Nags Head remain just one spot above the relegation zone through goal difference.

The final match of division one took place between Atlanta and Thorpe United, with the former cruising to a 3-0 win.

Goals from Dan Harrison, Dominic Taylor and Glenn Johnson meant that Atlanta were comfortably sitting in midtable, having played one game less than all but one other team in the league.

Thorpe United rest in seventh position having managed just three points so far this season, with a goal difference of -8.

In division two, Bramham Lions are currently leading the pack, despite playing one match less than their opponents.

A thumping 11-2 triumph saw the Lions feast on Pocklington Town, despite the best efforts of Harry Scrowston, who registered a brace.

Selby Olympia are the chasing pack on Bramham Lions’ lead at the top, having battled to a close contested 5-4 victory over Thorpe United Veterans.

Both sides had hat-trick hitters in their ranks, with Thomas Lazenby and Glen Littlewood achieving the accolade.

However, goals from Ryan Garbutt and Ben Blore secured the three points at the Ouse Bank Recreation Ground.

South Milford and Punch Bowl played out a dramatic 4-4 stalemate on Sunday, with a brace from Louis Brundrett helping the latter to a point.

The hosts are now in third position, whilst Punch Bowl contest in fifth.

The final match of the weekend ended in a disappointing 8-3 defeat for YRK FC, despite only being 4-2 down at half-time.

Strensall Tigers were the victors, after an impressive second-half display secured three points against bottom of the table YRK.

A hat-trick from Jordan Riley gave Strensall control, with other goals coming from Connor Rowston (2), Sam Greaves, Harry Powney and Reece Allan.
