ADAM HINSHELWOOD may look to the transfer market in his bid to solidify York City as potential title contenders.

After an impressive start to the Vanarama National League season, York find themselves in third position after 13 matches, behind just Forest Green Rovers and Barnet in the table.

An unbeaten run of eight matches has seen City reach this position, having only lost once this season in a 2-0 defeat to Boston, but Hinshelwood isn’t satisfied after three draws in the Minstermen’s last four matches.

After conceding just their first goal in over 500 minutes of football in Saturday’s 1-1 draw, Hinshelwood admitted that he is considering looking to the market to see if there are any improvements that could be made, but only if they fit the philosophy of the club moving forward.

Hinshelwood told BBC York: “It’s about getting the balance right, we’ve got a good togetherness in the group and we can see that from the fightback they showed.

“If we’re just going to bring loads of players in, that has happened in the past and it hasn’t always worked.

“As long as they are the right players, and we’re looking, then I want to make sure that it is the right top players that can make a difference, that can start games and have an impact for us.

“It’s no good just going and signing players for the sake of it.

“Now it’s about taking it onto the next level, and that’s the challenge for myself.

“I want to do that.”

York were backed by over 400 supporters down in Surrey for the stalemate at Woking, despite the fixture being moved to 5.30pm, being available on the television, and with public transports extremely limited in returning home.

Hinshelwood took the time to commend the support shown by the City fans, and admitted that he was ‘disappointed’ to now reward them for their efforts after the 1-1 draw.

“It certainly is [amazing], especially when the game is being broadcast on TV.

“I’m really disappointed for them more than anything really, they have come out in full force and have got behind us.

“We haven’t managed to send them away all happy with three points.”
