ADAM HINSHELWOOD has urged York City supporters to pack out the LNER Community Stadium ahead of their major clash with Barnet on Tuesday, October 22 (7.45pm).

York will welcome the early Vanarama National League pacesetters Barnet to North Yorkshire on Tuesday evening, with City hoping to solidify their own promotion ambitions against the Bees.

Hinshelwood hopes that supporters can replicate the level of atmosphere generated during Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Ebbsfleet Untied, issuing a message to the fans ahead of the Minstermen’s biggest match of the seasons so far.

City boasted the highest home attendance in the National League on Saturday, with a crowd of over 6,000 expected tomorrow night.

“Bring a mate along, let’s get it packed out,” Hinshelwood addressed supporters.

“Hopefully you will see a really entertaining game, both teams will be on the front foot, score goals and win games.

“It makes a massive difference having them here, when this place is rocking, it really is an intimidating place to come.

“We want to try and create that, if we can do that tomorrow night, we will be really pleased.

“We’ll do all that we can to try and get the win. It will be a tough ask, we know that.

“I know that the fans will have even higher expectations after that, if we were to win, but from my point of view it will just be focusing on the next game.

“We don’t want to look too far ahead, because this is a really tough test and if we were to get anything from the game, we will be pleased.

“I thought that they were unbelievable on Saturday, they made a real difference and especially when we were shooting towards them in the second-half like we were.

“I don’t think that there is any coincidence that three goals came down that end, there’s a really good atmosphere and if we can generate anything like that again, it would be unbelievable on Tuesday night.”

Hinshelwood is not the only one who enjoys York’s atmosphere, with players sharing the same level of excitement when playing in front of the City supporters.

Hinshelwood continued: “It’s a big part when you do speak to players, all the time they talk about the atmosphere and the big crowds.

“Any player wants that, they want to play in the big games and in front of big crowds.

“It does help, when it comes to recruitment we have an unbelievable stadium and a big fanbase.

“It helps a lot, when it comes to recruitment, and the lads in the building as well really enjoy it.”
