MALACHI FAGAN-WALCOTT and Ashley Nathaniel-George are both available for selection against Barnet.

York City will welcome the current Vanarama National League leaders Barnet on Tuesday evening (7.45pm), with Adam Hinshelwood’s side looking to build on Saturday’s captivating 4-0 triumph over Ebbsfleet United.

Hinshelwood has received a boost ahead of the match between two early promotion-contenders, with Fagan-Walcott and Nathaniel-George both recovering from hamstring injuries to be available against Barnet.

The City boss is wary of altering his defensive backline after another clean sheet was recorded on Saturday, whilst confirming that everyone else involved against Ebbsfleet had come through unscathed from the fixture.

“Malachi and Ashley have both come through with no reaction, so both come into the squad and are available for selection,” Hinshelwood explained.

“It’s a huge boost, two players that have been playing really well before their injuries, so if they can reach that kind of level or that kind of form, then we know we have two very good additions coming into the group.

“It would be harsh [to change the defence], because we have kept a lot of clean sheets and kept another one on Saturday, to disrupt the back four after that.

“It can be harsh sometimes, so we’ve got to look at it as the back four have done well and have kept a lot of clean sheets.

“There were a couple of chances that they could have scored from, but other than that they have been relatively solid as well.

“With Malachi coming in we have got some good options.

“That’s the beauty of having a good squad, players that you think have to start for you throughout the team, others come in and take your place.

“That’s football, that’s part of being part of a big club and having a good squad.

“Everyone has rested up well and has recovered well.

“We had a full training group and everyone that featured on Saturday is available.

“Malachi and Ash are available as well, so a nice and healthy squad going into tomorrow’s game.”

(Image: Tom Poole) Hinshelwood did share some disappointing news on the recovery of goalkeeper George Sykes-Kenworthy, who is yet to appear this season whilst recovering from an ankle injury.

Sykes-Kenworthy was initially ruled out for up to two months after suffering a freak injury in training, having been spotted in a protective boot following York’s 3-0 win over AFC Fylde in September.

“He’s still pretty slow really, the physio was hoping that it would be in a better place than it is at the moment.

“He’s still getting a bit of tendonitis with it, we’re hoping to de-load him this week to help it settle down so that we can pick it up again.

“We have to look at other things, injections and operations if it doesn’t improve.

“It’s a sad one, especially for George, we just want him to keep working hard so that it can mend and we can have him back.”
