JUST three games took place in the Timclad York Sunday Morning League this week.

Wiggington Grasshoppers hosted Heworth Inn First’s in the only match from Division One to take place on Sunday, with the former storming to a 12-3 victory.

Three different players registered hat-tricks for Wiggington, with Maximillian Rocco Bauer, Liam Robertson and Joe Rawcliffe making up nine of the Grasshoppers’ goals.

Harry Clapham, who also plays for Selby Town, Ellis Stephenson and Jamie Wilstop were also amongst the goalscorers as Wiggington emerged as the new league leaders, having played one more match than anyone else in the division.

In Division Two, Selby Olympia defeated Punch Bowl Firsts 5-1 on Sunday.

Braces from Elliott Drum and Ryan Garbutt aided Selby in their victory, paired by a strike from Nathan Lister, which had opened the scoring.

Selby Olympia are now top, three points ahead of Bramham Lions, having played two matches more than their closest competitors.

South Milford AFC hosted Strensall Tigers for the final match of the weekend.

The hosts ran out win a 1-0 victory over the Tigers, and are now in third position in Division Two.

Strensall Tigers find themselves in fifth position.

There were wins on Sunday, October 13 for Thorpe United, The Nags Head Heworth, Haxby Town, Malt Shovel, Wiggington Grasshoppers, Thorpe United Sunday Blue, Thorpe United Veterans and Pocklington Town in the York Sunday Morning League Cup.

As a result, Leodis FC, Atlanta First, Punch Bowl, Selby Olympia, Strensall Tigers, Heworth Inn, South Milford AFC and YRK FC have all exited the cup.

The York Sunday Morning League Cup will return during the first weekend of November.
