YORK City will be without three players that started in Tuesday night’s exhilarating 3-1 victory over Barnet for tomorrow's trip to FC Halifax Town.

Dipo Akinyemi and Callum Harriott have both been ruled out of tomorrow afternoon’s Yorkshire derby with Halifax at the Shay Stadium (3pm), after being first-half casualties against the Bees.

However, boss Adam Hinshelwood doesn’t believe that either of his attackers will be sidelined in the long-term.

Left-back Cameron John is also set to miss the visit to the Shay, and potentially York’s Emirates FA Cup first round match with Wycombe Wanderers, having suffered a concussion in the win over the Bees.

Hinshelwood was frustrated to be forced into three changes for today, but hopes that the opportunity provided to their replacements could prove an incentive.

“They are both [Akinyemi and Harriott] struggling for this weekend, unfortunately.

“It is a bit of a blow for us, but with that it gives opportunity to other players.

“We talk about our squad and that opportunity is going to arise for one or two to get some minutes from the start.

“It’s disappointing that they are not going to be able to feature this weekend, but like I say, an opportunity for other players.

“I don’t think it’ll be too long. With Dipo and his back spasm, you’re reliant on how that settles.

“It’s obviously still very stiff in that area at the moment, so no good for tomorrow [Saturday].

“With both of them, I don’t think it’s going to be too long and we are hoping that by the end of next week, they will both be able to train.

“It’s not too sinister, but obviously a disappointment for this weekend.

“Cam John [has a] concussion. He’s not available as well.

“That’s three big players, three starters, that are unavailable.

“I think it was just a collision right at the end of the game. I just asked him to go and do the press and he was sat on the medical bed saying that he was feeling a bit unwell.

“The physio, Sam [Mannings], and the doctor took all of the necessary protocol needed and he’s still showing signs of concussion.

“We made sure that he wasn’t at home and on his own, and I think that he stayed with one of the lads on the evening.

“He came back in on the next day and still reported signs of it, so we’ve got to take the right protocol, which means that he will miss this weekend.

“I think it’s 12 days from when he’s showing signs of symptoms.

“We will have to see how it is, but it definitely rules him out for this weekend.

“He did [play the best he has for York vs Barnet], I think he’s starting to find a bit of form, so it’s a blow for him and for us as well.

“It’s a few changes, there will definitely be three changes to the starting line-up, which is not ideal.

“At the same time, it’s an opportunity for other players to come in and show what they can do.

“I believe in the squad that we have got and believe that we have got enough in our ranks to still be able to go and put on a good account of ourselves, even with those players missing.”

With those injuries, Ashley Nathaniel-George and Ryan Fallowfield could be in line for a return to the starting eleven, with Hinshelwood confirming that the former was awaiting results on a scan ahead of any potential cameo against Halifax.

Fallowfield was dropped to the bench on Tuesday evening, with Hinshelwood confirming to the Press that it was due to a drop in form from last season’s Clubman of the Year, but impressed his boss after replacing Akinyemi.

“He’s [Nathaniel-George] one that potentially [could start], we’re just waiting on his scan results to come back.

“Providing that they give us clarity that we are in the right place with him, there will be potential for Ash to start.

“He’s [Fallowfield] fine, we just thought that the level of his performance dipped a little bit and Malachi [Fagan-Walcott] was back available, I wanted to go with him really.

“When he came on, he was excellent, which is the exact response you expect from Ryan really.

“He has been excellent since we walked through the door, a real professional and we knew that we were going to get that response.

“Sometimes a player just needs to come out of the team when they are having a dip in form and realise that they have got to keep on it and keep the performance level high.

“He certainly did that when he came on, there was no sulking that he wasn’t starting.

“I thought that he was excellent, he played on the front foot which is when I think Ryan is at his best.”

Marvin Armstrong and Tyrese Sinclair are both also touch-and-go on whether they will be involved, with the duo struggling with their hamstrings.

Hinshelwood expects both Armstrong and Sinclair to be involved tomorrow, but will take precautions after three matches in seven days.

He told the Press: “Him [Armstrong] and Ty are the two lads today that are still feeling their hamstrings a little bit.

“We tapered their sessions down a bit, we’re hoping it’s nothing that will lead into tomorrow.

“Whether they both have 90 minutes in them from start to finish, it’s something for us to look at.

“There will be no complaints, we’re missing a few players that have had tight hamstrings and whatnot, but it’s pass and parcel of playing in the National League at this stage.”
