MALT Shovel claimed a first three points of the season with a 3-1 victory over The Nags Head on Sunday in the Timclad York Sunday Morning League.

It was the only Division One fixture of the weekend, with Wiggington Grasshoppers’ match against Thorpe United Sunday Blue postponed, as well as Atlanta First’s clash with the Heworth Inn.
Thorpe United Sunday Red were in action, in the York Sunday Morning League Cup, when travelling to Division Two side Bramham Lions.
Callum Petch’s strike for Thorpe was not enough, with the match ending 1-1 and heading to penalties.
Thorpe ran out 5-4 winners to advance in the cup thanks to the heroics of their goalkeeper.
There were two matches in Division Two, as Thorpe United Veterans bested Pocklington Town 7-2 on Sunday, to leapfrog their opponents in the table and move into fourth.
A hat-trick from Matthew Dunne, paired by strikes from Callum England, Matthew Howden, Kevin Simpson and Kacper Hawryluk meant that Harry Scrowston’s brace for Pocklington was merely a consolation.
Bottom club YRK FC lost 3-2 on home soil against Punch Bowl, who moved into sixth as a result.
Selby Olympia were also in action in a County Cup clash with Hull City Supporters AFC, losing 4-3 to their East Riding opponents.
Nathan Lister, Elliott Drum and Ben Blore were on the scoresheet for Olympia.
