YORK City have received a boost in their treatment room ahead of Saturday’s clash with Hartlepool United.
Adam Hinshelwood has confirmed that a number of players have come through potential injuries following a hectic schedule as of late, which includes the return of left-back Cameron John after successfully passing his concussion protocols.
Dan Batty is also someone who has passed a fitness test after being rested for Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers, whilst Malachi Fagan-Walcott and Tyrese Sinclair are both expected to be fit for the Hartlepool match despite small knocks.
Hinshelwood confirmed: “Cam John is back available now.
“The protocol and everything for the guidelines on concussions have been met, and he’s trained fully this week.
“There was a bit of a game for one or two yesterday [Tuesday] and they have come through with no injuries, but with some good minutes into the legs.
“Malachi has a bit of an ankle [injury] and Ty is still struggling with his hamstrings, but we expect them both, they both trained today, expect the both to be fit for Saturday.
“Dan Batty is absolutely fine, he’s trained well and has rested well.
“I just thought that a lot had been taken out of the players legs, there is one or two, not so much Dan, but more Marv [Armstrong] and Ty that have been struggling with a bit of wear and tear on their hamstrings with the loads that they got through.
“With Dan as well, we’ve got to be careful with the previous injury that he has had."
One player that won’t be involved on Saturday is that of Callum Harriott, who has recovered from a hamstring injury picked up in October’s 3-1 midweek win over Barnet.
The winger has been allowed some time away from the club due to a family emergency, meaning that he will not be with the squad on Saturday.
“Callum Harriott is over his injury, he’s had a bit of a family emergency crop up, so we’ve allowed him as a club to deal with that and be at home with his wife at this time.

“We’ve given him all of the space and time that he needs, family is the most important thing and must come first.
“He won’t be involved this weekend.”
Another player that has been away from the club is long-term absentee Lenell John-Lewis, who is currently recovering from an injury that initially had him ruled out until the New Year.
However, Hinshelwood has been impressed by the recovery process in which his club captain has taken, with John-Lewis reportedly closer to a return to training than initially expected, having remained with his teammates to uphold the standards set by the club.
Hinshelwood told York Hospital Ball Radio: “We allowed him a few days, so with his partner they went over to Ireland and saw some family over there.
“We allowed him to have a couple of days just to do that, but he’s not feeling any pain or anything like that, so he’s really happy with how he’s feeling.
“The physios are really happy so I don’t think it will be too long before he’s getting his boots on.
“I know that feeling when you’re injured, there is no better feeling than when you have been out for a length of time and you get your football boots on for the first time and are out on the grass.
“I don’t think he’s far away from that.
“Even though you don’t see him on the pitch, he’s still in the dressing room and is keeping standards high, fully with the team all the time and is a real big person for us.
“We won’t put pressure on him, the kind of lad that Lenny is, he’ll put that pressure on himself to get back as soon as he can.
“He’s desperate obviously, he’s done superb for us at the start of the season and the lads have managed to keep it going.
“He’s so keen to get out there and he just really wants York to be successful, he wants to give his all.”
Centre-back Darragh O’Connor is also nearing a return to training after taking part in light sessions, with Hinshelwood pleased that the Irishman has been ‘progressing nicely’.
The boss told the Press: “Sam’s [Mannings, physio] doing great, and Darragh is getting his boots on now.
“He’s got some nice orange ones, so we can’t miss him, fresh out of the boxes.
“He’s putting them on and we’re seeing him out and running now, which is very encouraging.
“For any injured player, that first time that you manage to get the boots on [is great] and we’ve seen him doing a bit more today, with some heading and some running, some more football specific type running.
“He’s really progressing nicely, I don’t think that he is far away at all from being integrated into training, so it’s going to be a nice problem to have when he’s fit.”
A player that has been out of the starting eleven as of late is Billy Chadwick, who has managed just 23 minutes in his last five matches.
The 24-year-old has found game time limited as of late, with Hinshelwood setting out what the winger can provide to break back into the first-team.
“I’ve spoken to Billy, we just want a bit more consistency in training and in games, that’s all really.
“The team is doing well and he’s found himself out of the side, players in his position are playing well so it’s pass and parcel of football.
“He’s just got to be patient, there is so much of Billy’s game that I like.
“Just a bit of consistency in his training and his standards when it comes to game time, but he’s one that towards the end of last year was so good for us.
“He was starting week in week out, but the level of player has gone up, so he’s one that has got to come with it.
“He probably didn’t have this kind of competition last year and now he’s got some, he’s got to step up to the plate.
“There is so much to admire about Billy’s game and I’m sure that he will have a big part to play.”
