YORK City have announced the signing of winger David Ajiboye from League One side Peterborough United.

Ajiboye, 26, joins York on a loan deal until January, linking back up with manager Adam Hinshelwood after the pair worked together previously in the academy of Brighton & Hove Albion and at Worthing.

He also arrives with experience of promotion from the National League, having won the competition with Sutton United in 2021.

The winger came through the ranks at Brighton before following Hinshelwood to Worthing on loan, making three appearances, before that move became permanent in 2018.

After a season with Hinshelwood's former side, scoring 21 goals in 45 matches, Ajiboye earned a move into the National League with Sutton, where he would play a starring role over three years.

Ajiboye accumulated 116 appearances and scored 17 goals, as well as being named in the National League Team of the Season in the 2020/21 campaign.

He would stay for one season with the U's in the EFL, as Sutton narrowly missed out on the play-offs and reached the EFL Trophy final, before Peterborough acquired his services for an undisclosed fee.

Since 2022, Ajiboye has made 49 appearances for Peterborough, scoring one goal, as well as having a loan spell back at Sutton for the end of the 2022/23 season.

In June of this year, his parent club confirmed that Ajiboye had been made available for transfer.

Ajiboye is able to play on both the wing and in the striker position, providing competition for places with Lenell John-Lewis and Callum Harriott both currently unavailable.
