ADAM HINSHELWOOD has issued a rallying call for the York City supporters to continue making a ‘massive difference’, with a bumper crowd expected at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday.
With York welcoming rivals Hartlepool United on Saturday, the club are pushing for supporters to push past the 8,000 mark and pack out the LNER Community Stadium, something which Hinshelwood hopes can become the norm for City.
The City boss reiterated his gratitude to fans for their continued support so far, with the Minstermen top of the Vanarama National League and targeting a first win over Hartlepool since 2015.
“They make a massive difference,” Hinshelwood urged.
“It can’t just be a coincidence that we score a lot of our goals in front of them at the moment, even when we were attacking towards them in the second-half against Wycombe, we could have very easily have got another one and a lot of that was down to the noise that they generated.
“We want them to come and be as passionate as they always are, and it’s down to us to feed off of that noise and that passion and put it into our performance.
“As a player, it’s something you’ve got to look forward to an enjoy.
“It’s something that we want to become the norm here, we want to start getting sell out crowds here and I think that in the short spell that I have had, this could possibly by the third time that it’s sold out.
“Each time has been unbelievable, as a manager to experience, so we want the players to really embrace it.
“We want it to become the norm, we want it to be behind both goals that are full of York City supporters, I’m sure that we can generate that."
Hinshelwood was in attendance for the Minstermen’s celebrator gala dinner last Wednesday, paying homage to past trophy-winning City teams.
The boss was able to take inspiration from listening to the stories of York legends, as well as the attendances generated during that time.
He told the Press: “We had the gala dinner the other night celebrating with a couple of the older teams and they were talking about their successful seasons.
“At the start of those seasons they were getting around 2,000 and by the end they were getting 10 to 12 (thousand).
“Hearing that and hearing their stories was unbelievable and gave us a lot of inspiration of what can be generated at this football club, it’s something to really look forward to and be excited about.”
