FOREST Green Rovers will look to take top spot in the National League from York City on Saturday.

York will travel to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, currently top of the league and hoping to defend their spot by stretching four points clear of second-placed Forest Green during a 5.30pm kick-off.

The Press spoke to Gloucester Live reporter Alfie Ryan on what York can expect from Forest Green at the weekend.

How has Forest Green Rovers’ season gone so far?

I would say that Forest Green have had an incredible start to life back in the National League.

Having won 11 of their opening 17 games is impressive to me when you consider that they only won 11 games in League Two last season.

Particularly last Saturday against Maidenhead, you could tell that more complete performances are beginning to come from the team, as they seem to have a solid back-line, the midfield and attack also controlled the game excellently.

How have Forest Green Rovers adapted to life back in the National League after back-to-back relegations?

Similarly, I think they have adapted to life well back in the National League.

Quite a few of the games have been relatively comfortable by the time the final whistle comes.

Obviously, on occasion some games have been far tougher than others. Notably, Barnet, Rochdale and Oldham away were all very tough tests.

However, it could and should be argued that they did have the chances to win in all three of those games mentioned.

I think Rovers’ league position probably tells you enough as to how well they have adapted to life in this league following successive relegations.

How does Steve Cotterill tend to set up his Forest Green Rovers team, and in what style of play?

Cotterill tends to set up in a 4-3-3, but has also operated in a 3-5-2 on occasions this season.

Going back to the complete performances, I would say this is quite similar with how they set up.

Cotterill himself will always remind fans that there are multiple ways to win football matches and that there is a need for different styles, as to whether that is possession-based football or counter-attacking etc.

Who should York City watch out for from the Forest Green Rovers team?

In terms of a player to watch out for, it is quite difficult to choose from at the moment as pretty much all of the players have shown their individual qualities this season.

If I had to choose one, I would say Kyle McAllister would be the choice.

Having won the National League player of the month for October I think it speaks for itself really.

He scored in all but one National League games in October and the one he didn’t score in he still grabbed an assist.

I was very impressed to see that Rovers managed to keep hold of the winger over the summer as he was a bright spark in a dark season in League Two also

What is your score prediction?

And finally, with a score prediction, I would think a 1-1 draw is probably a fair result, both teams are in fantastic form at the moment.

Rovers haven’t lost at home yet in the league and York haven’t lost away. I would presume that both teams will probably cancel each other out and a point will be settled for.
