Selby Town moved up to eighth in the NCEL Division One on Saturday with a 2-1 win at a cold Richard Street on Saturday.

Selby took a first-half lead courtesy of a Harry Clapham goal, however some missed chances looked to have cost them when Max Rhodes equalised in the 70th minute.

Luckily, super-sub Troy Greening entered the fray on 90 minutes and his first touch of the ball sealed the win.

This was Greening's fourth goal of the season, and indeed, the third time that he has scored in the 90th minute for the Robins this season.

In relation to team news, from the Knaresborough game, Liam Wilson returned in goal, Ryan Gothard and Sam Calvert came in for Dec Racher and Ned Dry.

The opening exchanges between both teams were cagey although James Danby had a half chance for Town, but his header was claimed by visiting goalkeeper Nick Siddons.

At the other end, Dronfield were looking dangerous and Sam Bebbington saw a shot drift wide of Wilson's far post.

Selby took the lead on 15 minutes when a superb passing movement between Calvert and Liam Love on the left, saw the latter strike a low cross that was notched home by Clapham.

Just before half-time, a good break by the visitors saw a cross from the left just evade the foot of Max Rhodes

Selby opened the second-half with purpose and Gothard put Finlay Wade in on the right but he shot wide.

Calvert saw a shot held by Siddons and then, after a great passage of play, Dan Davison found himself with only Siddons to beat but he fired wide.

Another Town effort bounced wide of a post and it looked like the Robins would rue the missed efforts when on 70 minutes, Rhodes latched onto a loose ball and he slotted it past Wilson.

Both teams were looking for a winner now and substitutes began to appear. One for Selby was Connor Charlton who had replaced Calvert.

Unfortunately Charlton was fouled in the 89th minute and had to be replaced by Greening.

The resultant free-kick eventually found the late substitute on the left of the penalty area, and with his first touch of the ball, he hammered it home to the delight of his teammates and the majority of the 224 spectators.
