YEOVIL Town manager Mark Cooper found it difficult to accept his side’s performance and discipline after their 4-0 defeat to York City on Saturday.
Cooper frustrated at Finn Cousin-Dawson’s early red card, in which the defender pulled down Tyrese Sinclair as the last man.
From the resulting free-kick, Ollie Pearce hit a precise low effort beneath the wall that found the bottom left corner.
Cooper admitted that it was ‘game over’ from that point onwards, labelling the long trip up from Somerset as a ‘complete waste of a journey’ for his Yeovil side.
“I’m struggling to really come to terms with what I’ve seen,” A baffled Cooper told the Yeovil media team.
“After the first ten minutes, it’s game over.
“We make a horrendous decision, our centre-half tries a drag back on the edge of his own box when he’s getting pressed, which we don’t do.
“He’s just got to pass the ball or kick it.
“He gets sent off, and then we compound that by conceding the free-kick.
“Then for me, it’s game over because you’re playing against a good team and we haven’t got any defenders as it is.
“We’re playing with one centre-half basically.

“The chairman paid for us to stay overnight in a nice hotel last night. I wish we hadn’t bothered, I wish that we had come up this morning with the supporters, took our medicine and gone home.
“We would have had a few more quid in the bank to go and get another defender.
“A complete waste of a journey.”
Cooper was angered by the poor discipline of his side, who played the majority of the match with ten-men, before substitute defender Dominic Bernard was shown a straight red card with 90 minutes played.
Both players will now serve a three match ban for the Glovers, who are struggling for options within their back line.
Cooper was disappointed with the discipline and decision-making from his Yeovil defence, admitting that his players gave referee Oliver Mackey an easy decision with both red cards.
The Yeovil manager continued: “Discipline is poor. That’s five red cards we’ve had now, all defenders I think.
“Dom understands that we’re struggling for defenders, and he gives the referee the chance to send him off, which for me, I don’t understand that decision [from Bernard].
“We’ve let everybody down today. I’ve asked the players, we need a bit of humility, a bit of honesty, a bit of humbleness, we need to look at ourselves after that today.
“We’ve let people down as a group, our lack of discipline and our decision-making there in a game that for ten minutes was no danger really.
“After ten minutes, it’s game over.”
Cooper now intends on having an honest conversation with his Yeovil players after back-to-back defeats, whilst also frustrating at the error from goalkeeper Ollie Wright, who fumbled the ball into his own net for Tyrese Sinclair’s strike.
He felt that Yeovil were the cause of their own downfall, confessing that the task at hand was ‘nearly impossible’ after Cousin-Dawson’s 10th minute red card and Wright’s mistake.
“Ollie’s thrown one in for us, he’s been brilliant for us, but he’s thrown the second goal in.
“Right before half-time, that’s it.
“It’s just an honest conversation with the players, we’ve been good, but we wasted an opportunity on Saturday against Halifax that we should win.
“A lack of honesty cost us the game, and then we come to a difficult place today and wanted to have a real go.
“After ten minutes, the lead snooks us because we’re playing a possession-based team, a really good team, with a man down.
“It becomes nearly impossible.”
