CALLUM HARRIOTT has left York City by mutual consent.
The winger has agreed to part ways with York due to family reasons, with Harriott absent from the last four matchday squads to be with his loved ones.
Harriott bravely opened up on his reason for leaving the club on social media, confirming that his partner had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
He stated on social media: "Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to York City FC for the support during my time at the club.
"I was finally in a place where I am fit, enjoying football and was excited to be part of a push for promotion.
"It was a pleasure playing with my team and working with all of the staff.
"The support from the fans was phenomenal and I hope you achieve everything you have worked so hard for this season.
"Sadly, I am leaving to support my family through an extremely difficult time.
"Last month our lives changed in an instant. My partner was diagnosed with breast cancer, something we never saw coming.
"As my family live so far away, it is only right that I leave with immediate effect so that I am able to support my partner as she fights this battle.
"We kindly ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
Harriott initially joined City in the Summer of the 2023/24 season, having previously had a stint with Yeovil Town.
However, the experienced winger struggled for game time due to a hamstring that sidelined Harriott for the final 23 matches of the season.
He would only manage to make seven appearances in his debut campaign with the Minstermen, scoring one goal in a 2-2 draw with Altrincham in August 2023.
Harriott was able to recover from his hamstring injury in the Summer of 2024 and was available to manager Adam Hinshelwood, making six appearances so far this season, whilst struggling again with injuries.
He registered one goal this season, which came in a 3-0 victory over AFC Fylde at the LNER Community Stadium in September.
The 30-year-old has previous experience in the Championship, having accumulated 107 appearances at Reading and Charlton Athletic during his earlier stages of his career.
He also had stints with Colchester United, Gillingham and Yeovil before his move to North Yorkshire in the Summer of 2023.
