ADAM HINSHELWOOD expects to make changes to his York City squad for tonight’s trip to Altrincham.

With York set to play three matches in seven days, Hinshelwood looks set to rotate his squad for City’s trip into Altrincham (7.45pm) with the boss considering any potential ramifications to any injury-prone players.

Hinshelwood does not believe that some of his players will be capable of completing back-to-back 90-minute matches after recently returning from injuries, with opportunities potentially arising for the likes of Ryan Fallowfield or Jeff King, who could make his full debut for the Minstermen.

“There will definitely be some changes. I think that’s the beauty of us, having the squad that we have got and the squad depth," Hinshelwood stated.

“There’s definitely going to have to be some changes, but everyone has come through okay.

“It’s always hard to make changes, even more so when you’ve won games.

“We’ll add one or two in today. There will be one or two that we don’t want to risk just because of the level of games that they have had as they have had some niggle injuries.

“We’ll take that all into consideration, because the beauty of what we do is have the squad together and we don’t want to risk anyone or put anyone under unneeded pressure to play if we can bring others in.

“We’ve got one or two that could probably play 45 or a bit less in games, but to go back-to-back 90 minutes at this stage, we’ve got a couple that are still nursing their way through knocks.

“For them to go 90 to 90 would probably be a bit too much. Ideally, you want everyone fit and available for every game, but we know that some games we go into you can ideally only give them a chunk of the game.”

Adam Crookes is one of those City players who may struggle to complete back-to-back 90 minutes after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, having managed a first 90 minutes on Saturday since the final day of last season.

Hinshelwood remains pleased with the options he has at his disposal, and spoke on how King has settled into life with the Minstermen following his move from Swindon Town earlier this month.

Hinshelwood told the Press: “We’ll see how Crookesy is, he’s responded well.

“When you’ve been out for a long time, you don’t want to give up your shirt and I’m sure that he will have something to say on that as well.

“We’ve got options. Joe [Felix] has played at left-back for us a few times before and then you’ve got Ryan and Jeff who can both play at right-back.

“There’s options throughout the squad. It’s down to us to get it right, rotate and get fresh legs when needed.

“[On King] All good, he probably wanted to come in and feature a little bit more.

“He came on early in the first-half in the game against Forest Green. He’s settling in just fine and I’m sure that we will see the best of Jeff in the foreseeable future.”
