PHIL PARKINSON discussed Altrincham's recent record against York City as well and admitted that he was impressed by the Minstermen as a club.

York have established a poor record against Altrincham in recent years, with Parkinson's side becoming something of a bogey team for City.

A brace from Regan Linney and Matty Kosylo's strike in the first-half meant that York were unable to disrupt their bad form against Altrincham on evening, with City dropping to second in the National League as a result.

Parkinson only had kind words to say on the Minstermen, telling club media: "It will probably come back and bite us!

"It's always a pressurised game when you play York, they're a big team and have got big expectations.

"When you come here, the tradition and the heritage in our stadium, you go to York and it's like state of the art.

"They've got everything they need, they've got a chairman who obviously embraces everything to get them to this point and has given them resources that seem never ending when you look at their squad and what they're able to still bring in with high calibre and well-played players there.

"Nothing but compliments for York in terms of the way they go about it, but we've done exceptionally well again tonight.

"The big thing for me was that the players were absolutely outstanding, especially with how Saturday went and the resilience shown."

Like Adam Hinshelwood was with his York team on Saturday, Parkinson was pleased to see a response from his side after Altrincham had suffered a defeat to Aldershot Town at the weekend.

Parkinson piled the credit onto his players, and admitted that he felt there was never really a shaky moment for the Robins.

"We executed the game plan brilliantly today, the lads deserve so much credit. Especially after Saturday, where we were really disappointed with the result.

"I watched the game back and the performance was better than what the result suggested, and when you get the performances, the results do come.

"It was just persevering with it, making sure that we were aware of an extremely strong top-of-the-league York City team.

"Bar the opening ten minutes, you can see that the lads executed brilliantly.

"Again, it was contrasting to Saturday, and I keep referring to that.

"What you saw was an execution at both ends of the pitch, which we didn't do on Saturday, we had shaky moments that we were punished for.

"[Today] there were no real shaky moments, Ethan's [Ross] made a decent save but a save that I would expect him to make.

"You look at the save that their 'keeper has made, it was out of this world when he's put it onto the crossbar.

"We've put them into more difficult situations than us, because our defence was so strong and well organised, the midfield worked their socks off and the front lads got their positioning brilliantly.

"It was really important against a fluid, free-scoring York team where we minimalise them to a few shots from distance."
