YORK City are now reaping the rewards of Tyrese Sinclair, with manager Adam Hinshelwood delighted by the 23-year-old’s recent form.
The winger initially signed in the Summer and has been an ever-present in the York squad since, not missing a match so far this campaign in all competitions.
However, Hinshelwood was keen to see his impressive work in training transfer over into a matchday, with City now seeing the benefits.
A fantastic strike during Saturday’s 6-2 win over Maidenhead United saw Sinclair lob Craig Ross after expertly bringing down a brilliant pass from Dan Batty, which was also the former Rochdale star’s second goal in as many games at the LNER Community Stadium.
“I just said to him before the game, his game can’t be defined by what he does in the first ten minutes of the game,” Hinshelwood admitted.
“If he’s positive then we’re going to have a positive Tyrese Sinclair, if it’s negative then his body language and everything is down.
“You want players to play with freedom and confidence, especially in those attacking areas.
“I think that we’re starting to see now what a confident Tyrese Sinclair can look like, he’s a real threat at this level.

“His goals, his assists, his all round game is so much better, he’s reliable in his build-up as well.
“We just want him to stay in that vein, put mistakes out of his mind and just concentrate on his next action.
“I think sometimes he can receive the ball and still be thinking about what he’s done wrong previously.
“There’s a lot between the ears for Tyrese, but we’ve got an exceptional talent when he’s confident and playing like he is at the moment.”
Saturday’s win over Maidenhead was the first time that York had netted six goals in a game since an Isuzu FA Trophy win over Salisbury City in January 2012, which also ended 6-2, with Hinshelwood pleased to see the attacking impotent from his side, who have now scored 22 goals in their last five home matches.
Hinshelwood was particularly happy with Sinclair’s strike, admitting that the performance was ‘much closer’ to what he was expecting from his players.
“It was pleasing, lots of good stuff,” Hinshelwood enthused. “Obviously we’ve looked back at the goals conceded and there is stuff for us to work on there, but in the main it was much closer to what we want it to look like.
“Especially our pressing, the amount of times we gave the ball away in their half of the pitch, went and pressed to get it back was really pleasing. It was a big part of our game.
“The first and the third one were really good goals, the third one in particular.
“The ball, the first touch and the finish was unbelievable.
“That would be played over and over again if that was on the Premier League stage, that just shows the signs of quality in that goal.
“I think that kind of scoreline was what got labelled when I first came to the club, everyone’s expecting that and to be honest, in the earlier part of the season I was more pleased with us keeping clean sheets.
“We definitely want to get back to that, and at the same time we’re really pleased with us scoring goals which is coming from a lot of different players as well, which is good.
“Some of our forward players are starting to find some real confidence now.”
