YORK City will see an improved Levi Mackin next season according to manager Martin Foyle.

Midfielder Mackin, 23, was one of the Minstermen’s most reliable performers during the run-in to the Blue Square Premier campaign.

He made 21 appearances for City after arriving on loan from Wrexham at the end of January. Foyle did not hesitate to offer him a contract when hearing of Mackin’s release from Wrexham.

But, despite being pleased with Mackin’s form last season, the City boss believes his performances will be even better during 2009/10 as he benefits from having a permanent base.

Foyle said: “Levi was fantastic for us and came on in leaps and bounds. He was one of our most consistent players, but I know there’s more to come from him and we will see that when he moves into a proper house up here rather than the bed and breakfast he was living in last season.”

Mackin has joined City after six years with Wrexham, where he made 67 first-team appearances.
