EAST Coast will be running additional train services on the day of York City’s Blue Square Premier play-off final against Oxford United.

The Minstermen take on Oxford at Wembley for a coveted place in the Football League on Sunday, May 16 with a 5pm kick-off.

An extra East Coast train service will now leave York at 11.25 that morning, with an additional return service departing London King’s Cross at 20.25.

East Coast spokesman John Gelson said: “As a York-based company we are determined to do everything possible to help York City fans make the journey to London and back on the day of the match.

“The train provides a comfortable and relaxing trip to King’s Cross, from where Underground services take fans to the ground. It also avoids potential road congestion.

“Like everyone in the city we’re 100 per cent behind York City, and we wish the team every success in the final at Wembley.”

The extra trains are in addition to the 50 Sunday services East Coast operate directly between York and London King’s Cross.

The full range of discount advance purchase fares are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with standard returns booked via www.eastcoast.co.uk starting from £20 and First Class returns from £94.
