York City suffered Wembley heartache for the second time in 12 months as they went down 3-1 to Oxford United in the Blue Square Premier play-off final.
Two defensive lapses in the opening 20 minutes saw Matt Green and James Constable give Oxford a 2-0 lead.
United 'keeper Ryan Clarke dropped a Ben Purkiss cross into his own net to give City fresh hope on 41 minutes.
In the second half, the Minstermen poured forward in search of an equaliser but, as they pressed in the last minute, Oxford broke away and Alfie Potter made it 3-1.
