YORK City legends Jon McCarthy, Andy McMillan and Chris Topping are among three former Bootham Crescent favourites that will turn out for a charity match on Saturday.
Steve Tutill, Sean Haslegrave and Dale Banton will also be playing in the game against York Sunday Morning League team Fox FC in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Others set to turn out for the past-Minstermen team will be Joe Neenan, Dave McAughtrie, Paul Atkin, Mark Greaves, Andy Dawson, Gordon Staniforth, Glenn Naylor, Iain Dunn and Tommy Stanley.
Wembley hero Nigel Pepper will manage the side with long-time City schoolboys’ coach John Stockton the trainer.
The game will take place on York College’s 3G pitch and kicks off at 2pm with admission free, although a match programme will be on sale that guarantees entry into a prize draw.
Other attractions include a half-time crossbar challenge and face painting.
An after party will then be held at The Fox Inn, in Holgate Road, from 5pm where supporters can enjoy a drink and rub shoulders with City’s past heroes.
Live music and a barbecue will also be provided with tickets for the party costing £5.
They are available by visiting www.ihelped.info or from the Fox Inn.
Fox FC were set up last year with a primary focus on raising money for cancer care.
Throughout their first season, they have donated weekly playing subs to the cause and produced a charity calender involving players posing for famous movie scenes.
It is hoped the charity match and after party, which have been organised by Lee Quickmire with help from former Football League official Graham Bradbury, will raise £2,000 for the charity, whose nurses now care for around 50 per cent of all cancer patients that die at home.
They work through the night and day to provide care for patients in comfortable and familiar surroundings, and just £20 provides an hour of nursing care or advice and emotional support for family members.
