YORK City boss Martin Foyle is hoping Hull City’s household names can help him sign another player before the start of the new season.

The Tigers are expected to bring ten full internationals for tomorrow’s pre-season friendly and Foyle is counting on a big home crowd to swell his transfer kitty.

Former Newcastle star and Peru international Nobby Solano and Nick Barmby, who played for England during their famous 5-1 victory over Germany in 2001, are both set to play for the Championship side.

The likes of Anthony Gardner (England), Caleb Folan, Kevin Kilbane, Paul McShane (all Eire), Peter Halmosi (Hungary), Kamil Zayette (Guinea), Seyi Olofinjana (Nigeria), Daniel Cousin (Gabon) and Kamel Ghilas (Algeria) are also expected to provide a strong test for Foyle’s Blue Square Bet Premier squad. New signing James Harper is ruled out with a broken foot while Wales ’keeper Boaz Myhill is doubtful. Midfielder Jimmy Bullard is unlikely to play a part despite his proposed loan move to Celtic falling through.

But Hull boss Nigel Pearson will field a full-strength team following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Foyle said: “They are quality players and sometimes, at this level, it’s important to play League players and we appreciate them coming down here with a full side. Our players can see if they can aspire to play at that standard.

“I’m not worried about the result and am just looking to avoid any more injuries to what is a smaller squad but I hope our fans will come out to watch these type of players because it’s important financially to get some support through the gates.

“If we get a big crowd, it might enable me to get one more player in and I am talking to a couple of younger lads with a view to loan deals.”
