York City supporters will be able to watch match highlights in Bootham Crescent’s media centre next season.

The new facility will house York City TV and also aims to provide an in-house service to assist manager Martin Foyle for training and research.

It will be located above the Pitchside Bar, formerly the Social Club, and run on a part-time basis by City fan Phil Howden, who has produced highlights DVDs for the past six seasons on a voluntary basis.

The media centre has been funded by a donation from supporters’ group York Minstermen with Howden saying: “It will give us the opportunity to increase commercial revenue for the club through web subscriptions of match footage and additional DVD sales.

“It will also prove a helpful resource for Martin Foyle and his team.”

City’s general manager Ross Potter added: “We are grateful to the York Minstermen for funding the new centre and to Phil for dedicating his expertise to the club in this way.

“The benefits to our supporters will be significant with match footage and recent highlights being shown on televisions around the ground on match days.”
