FORMER Leeds United striker Andy Gray netted twice as York City lost 2-0 to Barnsley at Bootham Crescent.
The Minstermen line up included Leeds United first-year professional Liam Darville at right-back and fellow trialist David McDermott.
Teenage midfielder Mike Whitwell, released by Leeds at the end of last season, came on as a first-half substitute for Chris Carruthers.
Trialist 'keepers Steven Drench and David Knight each played 45 minutes.
