York City began life after Richard Brodie with a 2-0 win over Rushden & Diamonds in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Winger Peter Till opened the scoring at Bootham Crescent on 76 minutes and substitute Leon Constantine, signed late on Friday as a free agent, netted the second two minutes later.
Brodie made his Crawley Town debut as a substitute in their 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town following his transfer on Tuesday.
