YORK City’s board will make every attempt to ensure their supporters are compensated for Saturday’s wasted trip to Luton Town.
A travelling army of 201 City fans made the 180-mile trip for a noon kick off at Kenilworth Road despite advance weather warnings and advice from the police not to take to the roads.
The match was then abandoned in the 56th minute after persistent snow fall turned into a second-half blizzard.
A treacherous nine-hour trip back to Yorkshire ensued for City fans with the team bus not returning to Bootham Crescent until 11.45pm.
City are also out of pocket as a club after incurring travel expenses and shelling out £1,300 for an overnight stay which might have been avoided with an early postponement given the adverse forecasts.
The Minstermen now plan to contact the Conference board over the matter with communications director Sophie Hicks saying: “The board and the management are investigating the situation and all the factors and circumstances surrounding it.
“We intend to discuss the matter with the Conference and to get the best deal and a positive outcome for our supporters regarding the next fixture.”
