York City players Michael Ingham and David McGurk have sponsored barrels for this weekend’s Bootham Crescent Beer Festival.
Taking place at the club’s Pitchside Bar, the three-day festival lasts from Friday to Sunday and organisers York Minstermen are still inviting businesses, organisations and individual supporters to follow the players’ lead and become beer festival sponsors in order to help support the club’s youth team.
“We’re very grateful to both players for their generous sponsorship,” said festival organiser Frank Ormston, right.
“It’s gratifying to see players stumping up their own cash to help the next generation of players.”
Members of the youth team have also clubbed together to sponsor a barrel.
Sponsorship packages start at £80 (or £40 for a shared sponsorship) for which the sponsor receives publicity in the programme and on a special York City TV DVD at the festival.
For full details email frank@yorkminstermen.org.uk or phone 07956 237270.
The festival starts at 7pm on Friday with admission costing £6.
