YORK City director Sophie Hicks has welcomed the start of the community stadium public consultation process.
Plans for the project, led by developer Oakgate, will be on show at the York Community Fitness Centre (formerly Courtney’s Gym next to Huntington Stadium) on Friday from 11am to 7pm and at the Hilton Hotel in Tower Street on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
The consultation is a formal requirement of a major planning application and details of the retail development and other community facilities included in the project will also be displayed, along with parking and transportation details, the stadium’s benefits and the number of jobs it will create.
Supporters and members of the public are free to ask questions about the scheme and also provide feedback for Oakgate to consider ahead of their application.
City directors will be present at the York Community Fitness Centre session between 3.30pm and 5.30pm to field questions with Hicks adding: “The club is delighted that progression is now being made regarding the new community stadium and that the hard work we have done behind the scenes is now coming to fruition. We encourage supporters to come along to the consultation sessions and get involved.”
