YORK CITY boss Gary Mills praised Adriano Moké after the midfielder’s lively display helped the Minstermen secure a 1-1 draw at FC Halifax Town.

The summer signing, a former Glenn Hoddle Academy player, put in the deep cross from which skipper Chris Smith scored a 90th-minute headed equaliser but Mills was delighted with his overall performance.

“He put in a great ball for the goal. He’s got a lot of ability and he’s a good player,” said Mills. “He ultimately got us the equaliser. He threatened every time he got the ball and I felt he was going to create something and make something happen.”

Mills was satisfied with a share of the spoils, knowing his team would ultimately “need to be better than that”, but adding The Shay was a tough place to visit.

“We started well enough in the first ten minutes but, for some reason, we just started to drop into areas we didn’t need to be in. They got the goal and made it tough for us,” he added.

“The second half was better. We got the equaliser late but we had three or four really good chances. We know we can do better than that but you have got to come away with something and we kept going to the end.”
