A blitzkrieg innings from Stamford Bridge’s Dom Rhodes kept the Battle Axes top of the Foss Evening Cricket League with an easy victory over Londesborough Park.

Rhodes hit 51 in 21 balls, including four sixes, to lead Bridge to victory by eight wickets with 28 balls to spare. Park had earlier struggled to 84-4 with skipper Michael Drewery unbeaten on 25.

York remain in second place after a six-wicket win over Dunnington. Dave DeSilva’s three-over burst yielded 4-7 to restrict Dunnington, for whom Jack Lehuray scored 40, to 112-9. York then cruised to victory in 12.3 overs as Andy Griffith made 57 not out.

Woodhouse Grange beat Barmby Moor, also by six wickets, to maintain the status quo in the top three. Andrew Winn top-scored for Moor with 26, but two wickets for John Gilbank and tight bowling from Andrew Anderson held them to 91-8.

Woodhouse’s Tom Quinn (42) and Dan Wilson (27) did the bulk of the work before Martin Davies (3-16) made the champions stutter over the line.

Heworth hammered Pocklington by 69 runs to break away from the bottom of the table.

Rich Walton hammered 72, bringing up his half-century in just the fifth over, while Olly Sherwood made 68 not out as Heworth made 168-1. Pock were then bowled out for 89 as Steve Gillies took career-best figures of 3-16 and Ian Middleton also claimed a three-for.

The Retreat did the double over division two leaders Osbaldwick, whose lead was cut to a mere point.

Nad Sadiq (80) and Salman Syed (25not out) led Retreat to 139-3. Run-machines Josh Cockerill and Mike Hattee failed but Andy Horner (42no) and Martyn Baggerley (40) did their level best to lead Osbaldwick to victory only to fall 13 runs short.

Stockton & Hopgrove recovered from 18-6 against Bishopthorpe to record a three-wicket victory. Bishopthorpe were restricted to 78-9 as Kalum Perera took 3-19. M Riley took 4-20 as Bishopthorpe were in early control but Josh Barrett (31no) led the recovery for Stockton to see them home with 20 balls to spare.

Heworth Colts got back to winning ways in division three during a low-scoring match against Fulfordgate. The Colts made only 79-5 but it proved enough as Carl Bairstow (3-16) and Matty Fairburn (3-18) ripped through Fulfordgate. Dave Jewitt (28) top-scored for ’Gate but further tight bowling from Freddie Coughlin and Harry Moorcroft gave Heworth victory.

Ovington maintained second place thanks to Chris Tune’s 72 setting up a 53-run win over struggling Retreat II. Retreat’s Monro took 3-25 as Ovington made 142-8, they were well short as Brandon Bishop took 3-8 for B Kitchener’s 29 to be in vain.
