Matt Turnbull turned in a superb all-round performance to lift Westow out of the division one drop zone in the Foss Evening Cricket League.

Turnbull took 5-10 to bowl Osbaldwick out for 74 and he then top-scored with an unbeaten 33 as the Ryedale side cantered to a ten-wicket win at 78-0.

Woodhouse Grange had openers Nick Hadfield (72no) and Chris Suddaby (66no) to thank for their total of 144-0 at Pocklington.

Six of the eight Grange bowlers then took wickets as Pock were restricted to 115-8 in reply, Neal Jackson making 54. Stamford Bridge defeated York by 20 runs. Mark Holmes (43) was the leading batsman in Stamford’s 141-7, while Ryan Waite (4-27) took a four-wicket haul for the second successive week. Andrew Slaughter then took 3-16 with Kal Ahmed’s 33 the only notable score in York’s 121-8.

Heworth made it four victories in the last five matches by beating Dunnington. Chris Barratt (43) top-scored in Heworth’s 114-4, but a late 22 from eight balls with two sixes from Rich Walton was also key. Dunnington fell 15 runs short as Walton followed his big hitting with 3-15, supported by two wickets each by Simon Acomb and Tom Neal.

The match between the top two in division two saw Londesborough Park cut Stockton & Hopgrove’s advantage to one point after a seven-wicket victory. Stockton posted 101-8 with Rich Kerrison (27no) top-scoring as Jack Sowersby took 3-27.

Park then cruised home with 16 balls to spare as youngster Greg Drewery made 59.

Yapham thrashed Bishopthorpe by ten wickets. John Flint (3-7) and Scott Hardwick (3-20) blew the Bishops away for 53 and Josh Miller (28no) and Will Axup (24no) then sealed the win.

Bubwith join Yapham in third place as Thixendale were unable to raise a side.

Aviva Vikings won a tight match to upset The Retreat.

Sunny Sharma’s 28 saw Aviva reach 107-8 despite three-wicket hauls from both Adam Mosely (3-23) and Khalid Shefta (3-24). Andy Northfield (23) and Nadeem Sadiq (39) made runs for Retreat but Karthick Ranganathan’s 3-25 saw the Vikings win by five runs.

In division three, Dunnington Academy and Ovington recorded victories over Heworth and Askham Bryan respectively to maintain their grip on to the top two spots.
