After the second round of Pilmoor Evening Cricket League fixtures, the early pacesetters in the first division are Helperby, Sessay and current champions Thirsk.
Thirsk had much the better of things when they entertained Clifton Alliance. Ben Elders (2-12), Ben England (2-19), Ben Morgan (2-4) and Tom Broadley (2-16) ensured Alliance mustered only 66-8.
Then, Mark Nursey dominated Thirsk’s reply with an unbeaten 52 out of 67-1.
Last season’s second division winners Helperby recorded their second victory of the new campaign with a convincing win at Easingwold.
Only Dan Copeland, with 28, had any impact as Easingwold struggled to 67-6 against Joseph Corner, whose five-over spell yielded 2-11.
James Hardy (31) and R McKenzie (22) set up Helperby’s winning 68-2 with ample time to spare.
Second division new boys Dringhouses had a second quickfire win, this time at the expense of Alne.
Tom Shaw anchored Alne’s innings making 41 not out, but he lacked support and Alne could only reach 70-7 as Chris Evans took 2-9.
Andrew Kenyon with 33 and Sam Lingard with 35no then led the York side to 71-2 in less than seven overs, with only John Henley (2-26) having any success for Alne.
The division’s other newcomers New Earswick were in equally uncompromising mood when they entertained Huby.
The visitors were shot out for 47 in 16.5 overs, Thomas Piercy top-scoring with 18, with his colleagues having no answer to Matty Noble (2-11), Ryan Pepper (2-9), Venu Memom (2-5) and Stuart Masheder (2-1).
Masheder (28no) and Luke Whittaker (22no) took New Earswick to 50 without loss in seven overs.
