THE status quo was maintained at the top of division one in the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League as leaders Sessay and Thirsk both won.

Batsmen were on top in the game at Sessay, where visitors Newburgh made 120-2 thanks to openers Rob Proudley, who was run out for 51, and Charles Ramsay (33). Sessay’s Nick Thorne (80no) was in destructive form as they raced to 122-0 in under 14 overs.

At Thirsk, Easingwold could muster only 52-9 against Jake Petty (4-21) and Sam Taylor-Gell (3-10).

Thirsk needed only eight overs to take the points at 56-1 with James Wilkinson making 27 not out.

Clifton Alliance proved too strong for Helperby, posting 132-5 with Mark Taylor unbeaten on 59. Joe Corner’s 2-21 was the best return for Helperby, whose reply ended short on 90-5.

At Sheriff Hutton Bridge, Peter Carr (46) and Graeme Dawson (41) took Crayke to 107-4, but Bridge won at 111-4 with Dan Kiernan making 52 not out.

In the second division, Dringhouses kept up their 100 per cent record with a comfortable win over Civil Service.

Sam Lingard made 42 as they totalled 139-5, and Will Phelps made 32 in Service’s 87-8 in reply.

Huby won for the second time this season when they beat visitors Raskelf.

Huby totalled 103-6 thanks to a partnership between Chris Cundall (25no) and Tom Bullough (28no).

Raskelf replied with 82-8 as Tim Little (3-10), Tom Bullough (2-16) and Chris Cundall (2-10) bowled superbly.

Stillington’s climb up the table continued when they beat Sheriff Hutton. Harry Preston made 23 and Joe Schofield 32 as Sheriff posted 94-4, which Stillington found well within their range once Rob Steel had made 50 retired. They won by eight wickets in the 13th over.

New Earswick had a big win over struggling Rowntrees.

Kevin Barker (50 ret) and Chris Smith (40) were in the runs as New Earswick posted 163-4.

Rowntrees werre then all out for 46 with Arran Reid taking 2-7, Dan Lockwood 2-14 and James Husband 5-13.
