THIRSK remain out in front in division one of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League.

Top visited bottom when Thirsk travelled to Newburgh, with the leaders winning by 13 runs.

Thirsk batted first and lost two early wickets, but were rescued by Mark Nursey’s 43 as they reached 91-8. Jake Petty was 18 not out.

Tom Banks was the pick of the Newburgh attack, taking 3-16.

Only Charles Ramsay with 25 threatened to upset the leaders, as Petty took 2-17 and Mark Cook 2-13 as Newburgh closed on 78-6.

Helperby’s good run continued when they entertained Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Half-centuries from Matthew Cavanagh (59) and Ross McKenzie (54) took them to a formidable 151-5. Danny Kiernan (49), Ian Walker (38) and Rob Speake (21) kept Bridge in the hunt, but Dan Marston took 3-24 and Charlie Grasby 2-34 as Bridge closed on 129-6.

After three successive defeats, Sessay won at Crayke.

Nick Thorne hit 49 and Paul Flintoff 50 as Sessay posted 137-4. Dan Easton (2-2) and Tom Wilkinson (2-0) were on form as Crayke closed on 36-6.

Clifton Alliance batted first at Dringhouses and Jason Gatus struck an unbeaten 74 in their 138-2. Ryan Partington added 41.

Sam Lingard made 67 not out in Dringhouses’ 127-4.

Easingwold moved joint-top of division two with Alne as they beat visiting Raskelf.

The hosts posted 129-2 with a half-century from Dan Copeland (51ret). Raskelf were 89-2 but opener Angus Taylor departed for 41 and they ended on 115-9 in the face of good bowling by Harry Elliott (4-30) and Sheraz Kasi (3-32).

Alne demolished New Earswick, bowling them out for 54 thanks to Adam Keighley’s 4-22, Brad Scott’s 4-4 and Toby Stirk’s 2-5.

Alne won at 55-3 in only eight overs with Will Bell 20 not out and Billy Ellerington on 22.

Sheriff Hutton kept themselves in the hunt for promotion with a 36-run win at Acomb.
