TEENAGER Andy Fraser looks like a star in the making.
The 17-year-old Stamford Bridge opener hit the highest ever total in Hunter's York and District Senior Cricket League division five when he carried his bat for a brilliant 188 not out against Rowntrees.
Fraser's domination in the Stamford innings was such that none of his team-mates made 25 as young bowler Sam Bibby took 3-61 and Kev Palmer 3-45.
With little hope of matching Stamford's 285-8, Rowntrees opted for a draw and opener Tony Thomson dug in for a tenacious unbeaten 75 to enable his side to escape with an honourable draw at 156-8.
Having ended his premier division career, pace star Barry Petty found himself on the losing side when Thirsk suffered a 45-run defeat at Selby.
Petty, the leading wicket-taker in the top division, did pick up 4-30 in his more division five humble surroundings and team-mate Tom Stead captured 4-37. But, despite their efforts, Selby were able to total 181 all out thanks to Phil Elliott (38), Joe Romaniw (28) and Jamie Middleton (27).
Ed Willey (35) then made early runs for Thirsk but Middleton claimed 4-26 as the visitors collapsed to 92-9 before a measure of respectability was restored by a last-wicket stand of 44 between Stead, who made 31 and Yorkshire County ladies player Rochelle Petty, who was unbeaten with 19, when her side were dismissed for 136.
While Petty found herself on the losing side, Wilberfoss' female member Robyn Smith played a significant part in her side's one-wicket win over Dringhouses in division six.
After Dringhouses were dismissed for 118 with the help of Matt Hattee's 3-10, the Yorkshire Ladies U17 player made a vital 26 in support of Tony Peters' 30 to see her side to a narrow win. Dave Storr was unfortunate to be on the losing side. Besides a knock of 60, he also claimed three wickets.
Former Minor County player Giles Toogood made his first appearance for village side Thorp Arch & Boston Spa and helped them beat Carlton Towers by two wickets.
Darren Graves was in fine form for Towers as he made an unbeaten 82. Steve Watson abetted with 30 to help Carlton to 193-7.
Toogood, who has played 34 first-class matches, claimed 3-21 and then led his team home with an innings of 88 in tandem with U17 player Tom Wilson, who made 35.
